SONNENALP RESORT OF VAIL LAUNCHES SONNENALP SERVES WEEK
APRIL 19-26, 2008

Get ready for a flood of enthusiasm as Sonnenalp Resort of Vail employees head into the community to do good deeds during Sonnenalp Serves week. The resort’s Community Involvement Committee has coordinated with dozens of local non-profit organizations to identify 18 projects that could use a helping hand. In this manner, they have come up with a plethora of options that employees can choose from based upon each person’s individual interests. During this week of low occupancy for the resort, the Sonnenalp is asking every department to schedule their employees for one less day at the Sonnenalp, and in place of that, schedule them for eight paid hours in the community.

The Sonnenalp Resort’s goal is to introduce all employees to the rewards of helping others. Widely known for their philanthropy and community service, Sonnenalp owners Johannes and Rosana Faessler are no strangers to giving many hours, and dollars, to the community. The goal for Sonnenalp Serves week is to leverage the power of numbers and get every employee involved. Statistics show that volunteering is a great way of boosting an individual’s wellbeing, sense of purpose, and self-esteem. The hope of the Community Involvement Committee is that these eight hours of paid “volunteerism” that the Sonnenalp is requiring will stimulate more true volunteerism amongst their staff.
