The Sonnenalp Foundation of Vail
The Sonnenalp of Vail Foundation is a Colorado 501©(3) non-profit charitable Foundation organized to enhance the quality of life for residents of the Greater Vail Valley and Eagle County communities with a particular focus on addressing families’ and children’s medical and educational needs which are not currently being met by existing agencies and charitable organizations.
The Sonnenalp of Vail Foundation has made an everlasting impact on the lives of people living in our Eagle Valley. The Foundation contributes over $75,000 annually in silent auction items to local fundraising efforts to benefit both public and private school education, early childhood learning programs, public libraries, community service projects and individuals’/families’ benefits to help with extraordinary medical expenses. In addition, the Foundation has made donations in support of medical treatment and research facilities in the Denver area which provide specialized services currently unavailable in our area.
The annual Scramble Against Cancer Golf Tournament was introduced in 1999 and since then has generated over $1M net proceeds donated to the Sonnenalp Diagnostic Breast Imaging Center located in the Shaw Cancer Center in Edwards, Colorado. This much-needed facility serves the entire central Rocky Mountain region of Colorado and provides cancer patients with medical services and housing locally; therefore the patients do not need to commute to Denver or Grand Junction for these medical treatments. July 12, 2010, we are celebrating our 12th anniversary of this popular event!
Our 25th Casual Classic Bike Ride will be held Saturday, August 21, 2010. The proceeds of this fun-filled ride are distributed between the Sonnenalp of Vail Foundation and ECOTrails which is Eagle County’s beautiful bike path system which requires annual improvement, upkeep and maintenance.

– 25th Anniversary of the Casual Classic Bike Ride
THE SONNENALP OF VAIL FOUNDATION would like to thank our generous donors and vendors for making our 12th Scramble Against Cancer on July 12th a delightful success! The golfers had a beautiful day with Mother Nature shining her best possible conditions! Delicious foods, cold drinks, tasty ice cream treats and overflowing giftbags were offered throughout the day. In the evening, sexy cocktails and elegant butler-passed bites followed by lavish dinner buffets and an amazing dessert room were accompanied by Hazel Miller and her Band. Awards were presented and then the dancing started - an unbelievable time was had by all! A big thanks to Rosana and Johannes Faessler for donating their hotel and golf course facilities for this annual event. This event has donated over $1.3M to the Sonnenalp Breast Center at the Shaw Cancer Center in Edwards, Colorado. For details on next year's event, please call 970-479-5700 - see you there!
